The exhibition “Architecture as Landscape: A Morphology of Contemporary Croatian Architecture” will be taking place from the 19th of June to the 4th of July as part of the London Festival of Architecture International Showcase. With the kind permission of the Fitzroy Square Frontagers’ & Garden Committee, the exhibition shall be open to the public in the Fitzroy Square Gardens, Monday to Friday 12-5 PM and on weekends 11am - 3pm.

Presentation of the island of Krk
Cultural heritage, modern design and natural beauty of the island of Krk were at the centre of the cultural evening held at the Croatian Embassy in London on 12th February 2010. Croatian Ambassador Dr Ivica Tomić introduced the event and opened the exhibition “Gold and Silver Dots – Visualisation of the Folk Music of the Island of Krk”. Maroje Mrduljaš, an art critic from Zagreb spoke about the exhibition and its authors Sabina Barbiš i Marija Depicolzuane, students in the Faculty of Architecture and Graphic Design in Zagreb. The young designers have achieved harmony between the tradition and modern form by using selected photographs of the Krk landscape with transcripts of the music and lyrics of the traditional folk songs.

Duke's Hall at the Royal Academy of Music in London was the venue for the concert by the international ensemble Aestas Musica, held on 17th January 2010. Aestas Musica, the well known baroque seminar, has been going on for 17 years, the last 10 in Varaždin.

The Exhibition „Međimurski pilovi - Međimurje Roadside Shrines“ at the Croatian Embassy in London
A private view of an exhibition of photographs by Damir Klaić from Čakovec was held at the Croatian Embassy on Tuesday, 8th September 2009. The exhibition „Međimurski pilovi - Međimurje Roadside Shrines“ was opened by Dr Ivica Tomić, Croatian Ambassador in London. Also present at the exhibition was Deputy Prefect of the Međimurje County Mr Matija Posavec who spoke about the tourist potential of Međimurje in northern Croatia while Mrs Flora Turner, Cultural Attache, spoke about the author.

Talk by Marcus Tanner Croats at the Court of the Raven King
Marcus Tanner, journalist and writer, gave a talk “Croats at the Court of the Raven King” at the Croatian Embassy in London on 18th March 2009. Marcus Tanner was a permanent correspondent, a war reporter and an assistant foreign editor of the British daily newspaper The Independent. He is the author of several books, among them “Croatia, a Nation Forged in War” He also collaborated with Marica Meštrović on her book “Ivan Meštrović: The Making of a Master”.

Photo exhibition „Modest Beauty“ by Robert Krivec
A private view of the photo exhibition „Modest Beauty“ by Robert Krivec was held at the Croatian Embassy in London on 14th January 2009. “Modest Beauty” is Krivec’s first solo exhibition. He was born in Croatia but has been living and working in London since 2007. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb in 2004 and has since taken part in numerous projects in Croatia and the United Kingdom as a cinematographer and photographer. The exhibition remains open until 28th February 2009.
